I recently posted about how watermelon can boost a man’s libido in a similar way to taking a certain little blue pill. Well, I figured I would put together a simple recipe, that as well as being delicious, might be a “juice with benefits”.
Is Watermelon the New Viagra?
According to US scientists watermelons are loaded with an organic compound called citrulline that can trigger blood vessels to relax, in the same way as when a man takes Viagra.
Dr Bhimu Patel, who led the study, said that when watermelon is consumed, citrulline is converted to an amino acid called arginine which improves circulation. “The more we study watermelons, the more we realise just how amazing a fruit it is in providing natural enhancers to the human body,” Dr Patel added, “Watermelon may not be as organ specific as Viagra but it’s a great way to relax blood vessels without any drug side-effects.”
Citrulline is also used by many athletes and body builders to gives the body long lasting energy and defend against muscle fatigue.
Watermelon Packs a Powerful Lycopene Punch
As well as citrulline, watermelon has many other beneficial nutrients, including Lycopene. Lycopene has been shown to raise sperm count. Lycopene is an antioxidant that also helps fight free radicals and is believed to reduce the risk of several cancers. Lycopene is also found in another of our ingredients, the tomato.
The third ingredient in this juice is orange. Oranges are believed to be a healing foods for reproductive system. They are also a good source of folic acid. Folic acid is important for pregnancy as it can help prevent birth defects. It is also believed to help with male infertility.
