Joe Cross’ documentary “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” is essential viewing for anyone concerned about their health and wellbeing. In the film, Joe Cross and Phil Staples both achieved significant weight loss through juicing raw vegetables and fruits and also made big improvements to their health. One of their key weapons to helping their bodies heal was this green juicing recipe.

Juicing: Joe Cross Mean Green Juice IngredientsJuicy Ingredients

  • 1 cucumber
  • 4 celery stalks
  • 2 apples
  • A big handful of Kale (approx 40g / 1.4 oz)
  • 1/2 lemon (skin-on)
  • 1 thumb sized chunk of ginger (or a bit more if you are feeling brave!)

How to Make It

Simply juice all the ingredients (cucumber, celery, apple, kale, lemon and ginger) and serve over ice.

Note: if you are using a centrifugal juicer (like the Philips wide neck juicers, Sage juicers or Breville Juice Fountain) then I suggest putting one apple in the chute, packing the kale, ginger and lemon in tightly and placing the other apple on top. Then juice the celery and cucumber. This will get you the maximum yield from the kale.
