Kitten the Juice Pirate and I both receive lots of questions, that we have decided to post answers to here on NaturalJuiceJunkie.com. Melissa Perreira-Andrews asked:

“When making green juices, I find I can’t stomach celery juice. Does it change the nutritional value drastically if I omit it?”

Kitten the Juice Pirate says: A friend of mine doesn’t like celery so he replaced celery with kale or spinach or broccoli. I would say find a green to substitute celery. Celery has great benefits if you want to get the benefits and keep trying maybe add an apple or a quarter of pineapple.

Neil Martin, Natural Juice Junkie says: I often use celery in my workout recovery juices as it is a great source of sodium and hence good for restoring the bodies electrolyte balance. As alternative for post workout I would suggest drinking coconut water as this too is great at restoring electrolyte balance.

If you are not focusing on sports recovery, but simply looking to replace celery in a green juice recipe like Kitten’s Pirate Juice or Kale of Duty then I would suggest using either cucumber or courgette (zucchini).
