For the first time ever this week I was a little lost about what to blog about.
There have been a couple of events take place this week that have dented my enthusiasm and generally positive outlook. They have, of course, become easy excuses for a few poor eating decisions. I think I have to come to terms with the fact that it is impossible to be perfect! I am also taking those events and allowing them to put things into perspective and to spur me on to bigger and better things!
I heard that a guy, that was in my year at school, lost his life to cancer on Thursday evening. He was 46. I hadn’t had any contact with him nor seen him since school but was still saddened by the news and reminded how fragile life can be.The other thing that dented my confidence also dented my car. Thankfully nobody was hurt and the car can be repaired.
What Do I Juice?
A few people ask me what my juices are, especially when they see some of the brighter coloured concoctions that I walk around with. I tend to run with a regular set of juices, ones that I enjoy and that don’t dent the shopping budget too badly.
When I started juicing the cost of the raw ingredients was a bit of a shock, especially as my requirements were on top of the large shopping bills for a perpetually hungry family!
It was around this time that Neil (Natural Juice Junkie) devised and launched his Budget Juice Reboot. Fantastic, the timing couldn’t have been better, except……. my juicer broke down a couple of days before the start of the reboot week!
It took a week or so before I had a replacement juicer but I did try Neil’s recipes and in fact a many of my favourite juices tend to be ones that feature in his Budget Reboot.
Here, in no particular order, are some of my favourite juice recipes (click on picture to go to the recipe):
I would love to hear about your favourites, please leave a comment and let me know.
So, my juicy news for this week. Well, I lost exactly 1 lb. I was discussing what this means with my wife this morning and we both think that this is the lightest I have been for at least 15 years, maybe more. Result!
In memory of Rob. Rest in Peace.
“Sometimes, the Lord just takes blessed people because they’ve filled their purpose early. Everyone plays their own song. They sing their story to the world and leave behind a melody of memories. Sometimes… their song is cut short and ends too early. But that doesn’t mean their music was any less sweet or that they left any less of an impression.”Linda Kage
