My idea for this blog was completely turned on its head this morning. You never know what mother nature is going to do next!
I had my idea for this weeks blog all ready to go. I have had a very busy and stressful week and my food choices have been questionable to say the least!
This week I was going to blog about how, in times of stress, it is easy to reach for “convenient” options. A quick sandwich here, a bag of crisps there, pate on toast, Chinese takeaway, the list could go on. The stuff that’s nutritionally dead, one chemical short of a laboratory experiment. It’s all nonsense and a poor excuse of course.
What could be more convenient, delicious and nutritious than a crispy apple, a sweet banana, or some quickly chopped up crunchy vegetables or salad? After all, if time is pressing, you don’t have to juice them, just eat them!
So this morning I wasn’t worried. I had my excuses prepared. I approached the scales with a full expectation that I would have gained a bit more weight. That would have meant weight gain for two weeks back to back. Imagine my surprise and pleasure at seeing the scales tell me that I had lost just over 3 lbs ! I had almost pulled back the gain I had last week after my trip to Austria. Result!
I shouldn’t be surprised really. Being persistent is the key.
Do enough of the right stuff and your body will win through. It might not always be in the way that you want it to or in the timescale that you might hope for, but it will get there in the end.
I think this quote sums it up nicely:
“You never know what’s around the corner. It could be everything. Or it could be nothing. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and then one day you look back and you’ve climbed a mountain.”
So if you have a dodgy week, don’t ever give up. Keep going, even in the depths of despair, just try to do the right stuff, your body knows what it’s doing.
