Research says eating seven or more portions of fruit and vegetables a day would prolong lives.

The study of 65,226 men and women indicated the more fruit and vegetables people ate, the less likely they were to die – at any given age. Here is a delicious, mostly vegetable, green juice recipe with seven different ingredients to get you on your way to seven-a-day.

Juicy Ingredients

  • 6 romaine leaves
  • 1 small handful of spinach
  • 1/3 cucumber
  • 2 sticks of celery
  • 1 inch chuck of  broccoli stem
  • 2 apples
  • 1/2 peeled lemon

How to Make It

Juice all the ingredients (romaine, spinach, cucumber, celery, broccoli, apple and lemon) and then serve over ice.

Note: if you are using a centrifugal juicer (like the Philips wide neck juicers, Sage juicers or Breville Juice Fountain) then I suggest putting one apple in the chute, packing the romaine and spinach in tightly and placing the other apple on top. Then juice the other ingredients. This will get you the maximum yield from the leafy greens.
