I might be showing my age here, but I just watched a short spoken word film on YouTube and it reminded my of an old kids TV show that always started with the line “Why Don’t You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go Out and Do Something Less Boring Instead?”

Yesterday I felt so blessed to have been given a second chance at life.

I was in the park with my kids and a football (soccer ball for US readers) and after running around in the sunshine I started to remember how the old me could only dream of doing such things. I used to get out of breath within a minute or two of doing anything physical and never had the energy to be active with my family.

It is the simple moments that make life magical

In the same way embracing nature have given me my health (and life) back, spending time in nature takes me back to the simple pleasures I experienced as a kid when I would always be ‘playing out’ with my friends or enjoying the outdoors with my family.

These days too many people have lost connection with the real world. It is so easy to get lost in a processed life, eating processed foods, watching screens for hours and only communicating online.

I love the internet and social media, but sometimes it is good to switch off and pay more attention to what is happening around us in the ‘real’ world.

The video sums it up beautifully.
