“I’ve been sober for eight years now, but back when I was a crazy, dysfunctional alcoholic, I used to have this same smoothie every morning as a way of offsetting the vodka and cocaine I was putting in my system every night,” Moby told the New York Post.

The LA-based musician, 50, who has just published his autobiography, ‘Porcelain’, became vegan 28 years ago.

“I always start my day with a very elaborate green smoothie,” he said.

“I’ll throw parsley, kale, a little broccoli raab, a banana, mixed berries, cranberries, flaxseed, chia seeds and DHA [omega-3] oil into a blender.”

Moby says:

“it might have been one of the only things that kept me from dying.”

“It’s about as nutritious and complete as anything could possibly be, with various greens, anti-oxidants, healthy omega-3 fats and more fiber than your average person in Tulsa, Okla., probably eats in a lifetime.”

On the Rich Roll Podcast, Moby said, “The stuff that really delivers happiness is available to almost everybody and most of it is free or not very expensive—it’s the meaning we bring to it.”

After 8 years of sobriety, Moby told the New Your Post, “all in all, I’m a really healthy person — and a complete cliché. I go hiking and do yoga every day. I’m about 5-foot-9 and weigh around 140 pounds. I feel great. I got a physical recently, and the doctor said I’m as healthy as a 50-year-old can be.”

Free Meditation Music

As for music, over the last couple of years Moby has been making “really really really quiet music to listen to when I do yoga or sleep or meditate or panic.”

He describes this music as “really quiet: no drums, no vocals, just very slow calm pretty chords and sounds and things for sleeping and yoga and etc.”

Moby is giving away 4 hours of music of this music that you can download for free by clicking here
