A new report reveals how lifestyle related health problems are costing the NHS in England more than £11bn each year according to officials at Public Health England (PHE).

Public Health England (PHE) warns that conditions such as type 2 diabetes are a new and untreatable epidemic.

The BBC reports that about four in 10 middle-aged people already have a long-term condition for which there is currently no cure.

Dr Rebecca Wagstaff of PHE says, “The new threats are things like diabetes and chronic bronchitis. They could overwhelm us.”

“They are illnesses for which there is no cure, and they cost the NHS more than £11bn each year. That’s a phenomenal amount of money and more than that, it is taking years off people’s lives.”

Reports like this drive me mad.

Let us remember the CAUSE of lifestyle disease…

Look, I am not saying that all disease is due to lifestyle or that anyone chooses to become sick, but to say there is no cure is ludicrous.

The cure is actually surprisingly simple. If the diseases are most commonly caused by lifestyle then the cure if a change of lifestyle.

I believe that with better education diseases caused by lifestyle are completely avoidable.
